Bergamot oil comes from the skin of Bergamot Oranges, and heavily harvested in Italy. Bergamot oranges are a cross between Bitter Oranges (like the Seville) and lemons. There is a town called Bergamo that it was named after. With regard to memory, if you are past 50 yrs, take Pregnenolone 50mg - 300 mg daily at noon with food. Safe, over the counter hormone that will boost your memory a lot and preserve your brain. Take 50 mg to start, go up to 100 mg and if you feel fine not edgy, take more till you feel edgy then back down. You can test your current levels with a hormone blood panel. Also take DHEA 50 - 65 mg females, 65-75 mg for men - over the counter versions. Amazing results for memory and brain. Essential oils are great for relaxing, but nothing else.

What is the shelf life of this oil at room temp. Would refridgeration extend it?

I would say 6 months at room temp, longer if chilled. That being said keep in mind that chilled it will get thicker and harder to blend. Once you mix it with a carrier oil I would say you should use it within 30-40 days to maintain the best quality especially if you are using it topically.
