EXCELLENT call, I've included examples in the review.
This call is FANTASTIC. While I can go on about the construction, what I think about the sound quality, etc., I think it would be much more helpful to give you some specific examples of how and why I believe this call is effective. I used this call this season on 22+ acres of land in 2 different stands through bow and regular seasons, which is a span of about 2.5 months around here. I watched some of the videos and tried a variety of different suggestions they had, but mostly stuck with the buck grunt and doe moan methods. Here are my results. 1) During one of the first times I used the call, I managed to bring a small buck to my stand using regular grunts. It stood in the brush nearby, watching, for about 20mins. I switched to the doe moan and it looked up and quickly came out into the clearing. I got a new bow this season and, despite sighting it in, did something wrong and missed the shot, going several feet wide. Didn't matter - this call is so good that, despite scaring it away, moan calls brought him back. Not close enough for a shot, but he stood nearby and watched. 2) Next time out, back and forth with grunts and moans brings a HUGE, 10-pointer into view. When I stood, my release lightly tapped my bow and the buck turned and left. Moan calls kept him in the area though, along with 2 more deer. While the 10-pointer circled the area, a smaller buck and a tiny yearling came into the clearing, but I was determined. I switched to grunts when he wouldn't come closer and there was an instant response - he looked right up and came closer. Still didn't come into the clearing though. 3) The 10-pointer did eventually come back, however. The call brought him in about 10mins after sunrise and I took the shot. He bolted, so I thought I missed. While I waited for him to settle, if hit, I continued my moan calls - less than 5mins later another deer shows up, apparently oblivious to the recent explosion. Took that deer too. When I got down, I was able to follow the blood trail and easily locate the elusive 10-pointer. 4) My next hunt out, I moved locations and, no longer able to shoot a buck for the season, experimented with only the grunt calls. After about 20mins, a medium-sized doe came right into the clearing, making a beeline for my stand. I wasn't able to get a shot, but every time she started the leave, the grunts turned her 180 degrees and kept bringing her right back This call really is something else. It doesn't just sound good to me, apparently it also sounds so good to deer that they'll come to it, despite dangerous conditions (i.e. an arrow narrowly missing them, gunshot, etc). I liked it so much I suggested my friend buy it. No luck with it the first time out, but the second time he brought a huge doe in with the grunts. My only complaints: 1) The slide freezes when the moisture from your breath gets in it. During one hunt, I was stuck using only doe moans because I couldn't move the slide. 2) The necklace is awful. PLEASE fix this on future models! The poorly-designed loop that's supposed to hang on to the call in a groove doesn't have a strong enough spring or deep enough groove to do so and the call calls off sporadically while walking. I lost the spring at one point in the grass, managed to find it and put it back on, only to have the cord fray and fall apart anyway.

This is the one
Great all in one call. Sounds good and is easy to use. Doesn’t freeze up in cold weather. Has been my go to for years.

Worked for me
Works pretty good. My buddy missed a shot at a buck who started to run. I used the Deer Call to get him to stop at about 300 yards and my buddy was finally able to get a shot on the buck and bring him down. Without this caller, that buck would have been gone. Nice 4x3 mule deer.

Great Deer Call
I don't know much about deer hunting, but I got this for a friend's son who has started hunting. His dad said he didn't lay it down for a week. He used it continuously, from the time he woke up until the time he went to bed. I think you can make all the sounds a deer makes on this one. He has now mastered all the calls, (his dad is happy). I'm thrilled that he likes it.

Like how you can consistently reproduce a call sound very easily.
Got it and watched part of the DVD which would not play in my DVD player but worked on my computer. Guess I should knock it one star for that but I was able to watch it and I am not sure if it was meant for a DVD player. What I do like about it is the simplicity. I have another call that allows you to change the pitch and it is smaller which is nice but sometimes it will not give you what you are after when you push down in the spot it indicates. Also you have to alter the tone with the way you blow since both hands are often occupied working it. I do like the tone of this one better. used it hunting with no deer seeming to respond but this year the deer have been scarce. Trying a spot that was really good last year so maybe I might get to see if deer respond. I did have three deer come charging in to a call last year with the other call so I think that given the same situation this one would have worked as well. It is not magic but I have come to believe that you can get a deer coming your way with the call. I do need to view the rest of the DVD but for the basic calls that I already know about this one creates a really nice tone and so far has been very consistent and very life like. That being said I have heard different animals produce calls that do not sound at all like something like you would ever do with a call so a call that does not sound so pure might not mean your hunt is ruined. But for the price I think it is a great sounding call you get a strap to carry it around your neck and a DVD instruction disk. For this price I think it is a great value for any call.

Good sound and easy adjustments, but very fragile overall.
I do like the buck grunt that this call makes, and the fawn and doe sounds are pretty good too. It's also really easy to adjust the slider, but that also means it's really easy to ACCIDENTALLY adjust the slider. Then somebody might pick up their call without looking and blow a fawn bleat when they meant to do a buck grunt, because they bumped the slider when they pulled it out of their pocket. Also, there are two main areas where this call will break on ya: 1. The crimping holding the spring on the lanyard in place. The crimped metal on the lanyard is too weak and doesn't hold anything in place. So, your Extinguisher will fall off the lanyard while you're walking and if you bought the Camo model, good luck finding it lol! 2. The bottom part with the rubber tube and reed will fall out of the mouthpiece part eventually. Now that is pretty normal with reed-style grunt calls, the two halves are typically friction-fit and can just flop apart if you pull too hard while you've got the buck fever. H O W E V E R. This call has an unretained O-ring as part of the mechanism for the admittedly ingenious pitch adjustment slider. When this one comes apart accidentally in the woods, the tiny lil black O-ring will fall 18 feet from your stand into the leaves below, and again, good luck finding it lol. This call has the best pitch adjustment system of any adjustable grunter that I'm aware of. But Illusion Systems should make these improvements for V2: 1. Put a little lanyard loop near the mouthpiece that a string could go through horizontally, OR if they don't wanna change up the design too much, at least fix the metal crimping holding the spring on the lanyard. I have a 22-year old wooden grunter with the same lanyard design, and the metal crimping on it's lanyard has not drifted ONCE. It never fell off my Dad's neck or mine. 2. Make the pitch adjustment slider stiffer, or incremental, or maybe even a slider that you need to push in first to move. This could really help prevent accidental pitch changes when the call bumps something or you do. 3. Fix how easy it is to accidentally lose the O-ring, maybe by: a. Making the top and bottom half clip together, so you need to push in somewhere to disassemble. b. Or making the O-ring captive (but replaceable) in part of the pitch adjustment mechanism, so it stays part of the call when you do disassemble it. Full Disclosure I DID shoot a decent 6-pointer not long after using this call, so the sound can't be too bad. But this new design has some structural fragility issues that probably could be corrected without making it TOO much more complex. Right now I have it held together with Gorilla Tape and a zip tie and it's working.
