Can you cook on this stove ?

Definitely, I boiled a large stock pot of water to to wash with. Kept my Arctic tent toasty in Laramie Wyoming Mountains this spring

Would this work for a 8 by 14 insulated cabin?

Yes. Just remember that it is simple carbon steel & not cast iron. So it heats up quickly but also cools down quickly. And it doesn't hold a lot of fuel. So you have to keep adding fuel to keep it running. Whereas a large cast iron wood stove will stay warm for many hours after it has finished burning.
