Will this file down cat nails?

No. It is just for adding an area of entertainment and appropriate scratching. It will help them "shed" the old outer layer of their nails. If you want a way to prevent scratching up things in your house: I suggest a cat tree with scratching surfaces and enough height to climb a bit as well as such things as the cardboard scratcher(s). I also use nail caps as they don't interfere with normal behavior (even climbing) but protect surfaces such as my leather couch. I have used nail caps on all of my cats over the years. I currently use Purrdy Paws Soft Nail Caps for Cats and Soft Claws Nail Caps for Cats.

No but I have three cats and it's lasting
