FREDI Spy Camera, 1080P HD WiFi Hidden Camera Spy Cam, Small Wireless Home Security Surveillance Cameras with Night Vision, Motion Detection, Remote View for iPhone/Android Phone/iPad/PC

I work with many of these cameras to incorporate them into concealed appliances & furnishings. Over the years I've tried to find a good one, AND with a reliable App to view remotely through Wi-Fi. This is the very best I've found and the App (HIDVCAM) actually works, unlike P2P or HDMinicamPro, which are currently out of service for remote viewing. However, keep in mind that this new series of W9 cameras use only the HIDVCAM app. Unfortunately, you can't as yet link any other cameras to this App, even ones from Fredi. That said, the night vision is good (see picture) and inside the casing, you can see top left the microphone which is effective, though of course less so as it is encased. It has a 95ᵒ angle of view, wide enough to take in a room, wall to wall. The options in the App are very good: set the time when the Infrared light comes on and sensitivity of motion detection. Usefully, it can be set so it will record only when something comes into view so you don't need to wade through hours of recording to find the disturbance/action. The instructions are not perhaps as clear as they should be, but you'll be able to blunder your way through (or ask here). By the way, do not open the casing as I have... I put the picture up because it is so tempting and you might be curious! The colour reproduction is tinted under certain household lighting, but excellent daytime or under white LED lights in most homes. I've put this lengthy review up because I went through 15 other cameras before finding this, and they are, frankly, the only ones under mini-cams worth buying. [I should stress I am not connected with the company and rarely have anything good to say about anything.]

Useless. This cam is pointless as it switches off and disconnects randomly. I’ve tried to work through the issues with the support email but the gadget just doesn’t work. You switch on the cam, it takes 4-5 attempts to connect, with the cam powering off at the failed attempts. Finally, you connect but anywhere between 30 seconds and 5 minutes later and it’s disconnected and powered off again. It’s not a question of app in use, settings in the cam, power or network...all checked and eliminated from possible issue list. Just a rubbish product. I expect 50% suffer the same issue, some different issues but largely a low quality control. I was trying to film a garden gate for security and obviously the product is no use to me if it cannot be left and depended on. Whether it has a use for ‘you’ or if you are willing to take the quality risk is a personal choice. Amazon really shouldn’t sell such poor products. Thumbs down to Amazon and obviously I’d say avoid this product.

Beware the blurb. This is actually the same size as most other home use cameras and is not a mini spycam as they want you to believe. That being said, it works very well and the picture is very good.

This is a great little camera with some brilliant features. I already have a camera of the same brand, and so I tried to set this one up using the same app (BVCAM), however, it wouldn't connect. This camera comes with a download link to a different app (HDMiniCam) and I was going to get quite annoyed at having to use to different apps, after all, the point of using the same brand was to avoid that, but fortunately, HDMiniCam quite happily accepts both my cameras. I have the app for Android and iOS, and for the most part, it's easy to set up and use. I have noticed on my iPad that if I'm near a known Wifi network, the camera and Wifi can sometimes fight, in which case you have to go to your Wifi settings and tell it to connect to the camera rather than have it happen automatically. Once connected the app is simple to use and gives you complete control over the camera, including turning night vision on and off, which is a nice feature as some cameras try and do this automatically and often don't get it right. You get two USB charging cables. One which is very long, and one stiff, positionable cable which is very useful, for example, you can plug it into a powerbank and still easily position the camera as you wish. One of things I'm going to be using this for is for some charity ghost hunts, so although the battery lasts quite well at over an hour, I'm going to have to use a powerbank for extended use. The base of the camera is magnetic allowing you to stick it to many metal objects, though the magnet isn't particularly strong. It also comes with an adhesive metal disc if you want to place it somewhere non-magnetic, and a small stand with a ball-socket. Note that the camera is not as small as some of the product photos suggest. It's larger than a £2 coin (see my photos for comparison.) Approximate dimensions are 4.5cm in diameter and 2.5cm deep. For the price, and it's size, the picture quality is very good, but not outstanding. The picture is Full HD and has a 140° view angle to capture the action in good detail. The picture quality suffers a little in low light and in night vision, but the infrared LEDs output a huge amount of IR light so you can see in complete darkness up to about 5 meters. Overall it's a great piece of kit, and I'm quite impressed at the quality they've managed to squeeze into something so small and relatively cheap. Recommended.

A little bigger than expected but still very small for the quality it delivers Magnetic back makes placing it around the house easier it even comes with a "metal" disk you can stick somewhere to attach it to, or use the rather funky little ball mount "thingy" it comes with that you can stick up. Picture and video quality is as expected from a 1080p camera night vision gives you the standard black and white view and motion detection works a treat look at the video Hardest thing about getting it up and running was removing the box from the sleeve boy that was in tight! But setting up the camera was a breeze most of these 2.4ghz camera's are tricky to connect forcing you to disable 5ghz temporarily in your router, but not this one it detects the correct frequency automatically and after authentication boom you are good to go. This will come in quite useful and me being a gadget and camera geek I love it. Great purchase
